Five Areas of Practice
A learner-centered practice requires re-centering learning in five key
areas. The goal of this resource is to provide a brief discussion of each
and offer some examples of strategies for making changes. These
strategies are ‘jumping off points’, offered with the understanding that
each classroom is unique. The objective of this resource is to offer ideas
that might inspire you to might place the learner at the center of all of
your areas of practice! The key areas are:
1. Power and Authority
2. Course Content
3. The Role of the Teacher
4. Responsibility for Learning
5. Assessment
