CORE Construction
NOYES LABORATORY OF CHEMISTRY AT
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
The Noyes Lab Organic Chemistry Lab and Library Remodel project, built for the
University of Illinois, included the renovation of 10,000 square foot chemistry laboratory
and the construction of four new student labs and two new classrooms. The facility
houses the School of Chemical Sciences Library on the Urbana, Illinois campus, which
was relocated to the first floor, and other educational departments. The lab and library
renovation involved removing asbestos tile from floors and walls, replacing windows and
doors, and restoring interior brick finish. The project also featured upgraded heating,
ventilation, and air conditioning, lab exhaust, lab waste, and fire protection systems. The
renovation of Noyes Lab Organic Chemistry Laboratory and Library restored a National
Chemical Landmark of the American Chemical Society and created a safe collegiate
environment for research and teaching for students and faculty.
