CORE Construction
CHEMISTRY ANNEX AT UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
The Chemistry Annex project, built for the University of Illinois, included the demolition
and renovation of 1,000 square foot support space and 43,000 square foot of laboratories.
The facility houses the School of Chemical Sciences Library at the Urbana, Illinois
campus. Renovations of the facility included systems upgrades to heating, ventilation, air
conditioning, exhaust, lab waste, fire protection, and site utilities. The project also featured
relocating the library to a new first floor, creating a new organic chemistry library, four
new student labs, and two new classrooms. The construction of an ADA passageway to
elevators resolved the need for accessibility and convenience. Due to CORE’s attention to
visibility and minimizing obstructions, the Chemistry Annex Phase I at the University of
Illinois project provided a safe environment for individual and collective scholastic pursuits.
