DO’S FOR DRIVERS OF BSVI VEHICLES

1. Always use Tata Genuine DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) only. Do not fill adulterated DEF or water to DEF tank.
Do not fill DEF using Funnels - Deposition of funnel will enter the system & may damage the components.

2. Store DEF between -11 to 30º C temperature. This has shelf life of 12 months.

3. Maintain cleanliness while filling the DEF solution.

4. There are two filters in After Treatment Systems namely, DEF tank filter and Supply Unit filter. Replace
them at recommended intervals, wherever applicable.

5. Daily maintenance is to be regularly performed especially on water separator, coolant level and engine
oil level. Always do refit the water separator water in fuel sensor during filter replacement.

6. Drain water from fuel-water separator whenever water in fuel indicator on the instrument panel glows.

7. Operate the engine with correct oil pressure and coolant temperature.

8. Keep engine in idling condition for at least one minute just after starting the engine and also before
stopping it, to protect the turbocharger from getting damaged due to oil starvation.

9. Always start moving the vehicle in first gear, to avoid premature clutch wear.

10. Before engaging reverse gear ensure vehicle is stationary.

11. Drive judiciously, using rpm meter as a guide. Adhere Gear Shift advisory The engine speed should be
in green light at all times for economical and comfortable driving with less gear shifting.

12. Use only Tata Genuine oils and lubricants/DEF.

13. Insist on use of genuine Tata Spare parts for all replacements. All repairs are to be carried out by trained
mechanics using recommended special tools for the required repair at dealer’s workshop/TASS.

14. Always use recommended antifreeze agent diluted in specified ratio in cooling system to avoid
deterioration of engine components due to corrosion. After filling coolant, fit radiator cap firmly, to
keep cooling system pressurized. Always fit genuine radiator cap for pressurized cooling system.

15. Maintain correct tyre pressure to ensure better tyre life.

16. Keep foot and hand brakes properly adjusted.

17. Check battery every week and top up electrolyte, if necessary. Keep battery terminals clean and cable
joints tight. Apply Vaseline / petroleum jelly on terminals.

18. Observe correct polarity while connecting battery cables and alternator terminals.
