An Update on New Technology Hand Wrap

It used to be that all the R & D was going into machine film products to make them stretch further, and
provide greater performance at thinner gauges. While this is still the case, there is a growing emphasis on
bringing stretch films new technologies to bear on hand wrap as well. The result is that we are seeing a
growing number of thin gauge hand wrap films that are thinner and stronger than ever before. It is to the
point where anyone who is using a 70 or 80 gauge hand wrap should be considered "Ole Timey" and out of
step with what is happening in the industry.

I have seen non pre-stretched hand wrap films between 40 and 50 gauge being offered by a growing number
of companies including:

l Pliant Corp
l Paragon Films
l AEP
l Pinnacle
l Amtopp
l Sigma
l Quintec
l ITW

Not all of these films are equal in performance but several of them are certainly solid replacements for
conventional 70 and 80 gauge hand wrap. What you want to look for in thin gauge films, hand wrap or
machine, is the use of quality high performance resins only, no off spec resins; and the attention to detail
and quality control by the manufacturer. With thin gauge films there is very little margin for error. The
manufacturer has to be dedicated to maintaining his quality standards at every step of the process.

NPS is offering two Infinity hand wrap films in this gauge range, and pardon us, but we think they are the
very best in each category.

Our Cast PX is a 12 micron ( 47 gauge ) hand wrap that is the ready replacement for any hand wrap including
all 80 gauge conventional films. We have it available in 11", 13", 16", and 18" in both 1,500' and 2,000' put
ups. We stock two sizes:

l INFHW18PX / 12 micron 18" x 1,500'
l INFHW162PX / 12 micron 16" x 2,000'

Our Blown PX2 is a 42 gauge hand wrap that also can replace any hand wrap including all 80 gauge
conventional films. We have it available in 13", 15", and 18" in both 1,500' and 2,000'. We stock it in two
sizes:

l INFHW18PX2 / 42 gauge 18" x 1,500'
