Richard Gunther
There are a few animals that glide, thanks to wide areas of skin
between limbs which can be stretched out.
One such is the 'flying lemur' or colugo of Malaysia.
Another is the yellow-bellied glider, which is similar to a shrew.
And the flying possums of PNG and Australia - a marsupial.
The only way an animal could obtain wide, flat areas of skin, is
through its own inherited genetic information.
This comes from its genes, which are passed on to it from its
parents - and they of course inherited it from THEIR parents.
Without these inherited genetic instructions (encoded in DNA) a
possum could never grow the specialized skin it needs.
Its ability to leap from a branch and glide is also inherited through
DNA, which passed on from its parents.
It is important to note in passing that DNA is a very intelligently
written code, which cannot write itself. It is impossible that DNA is
the result of an accident so an appreciation of this fact adds to
our understanding of flying possums.
This of course begs the question, where did the DNA come from
in the first place?
It came for God the Creator, who made the first gliding possums.
