Kingfishers are usually hard to spot.
You may see one perched above a stream or river, or perhaps
catch a flash of colour as it darts by, but they are quite shy and
secretive.
They build a nest at the end of a tunnel in a riverbank - both the
male and the female dig together.
They chip away at the dirt with their beaks and kick the material
back with their feet.
The tunnel always slopes upwards.
The parents may have six or seven chicks to feed, and each
chick requires one small fish per hour.
How do kingfishers, both male and female, know how to dig a
tunnel the right length and angle? They are never taught how
to do this.
How do they know they must catch at least one small fish per
hour for each chick?
The God who designed
kingfishers, gave them
the skills and the wisdom.
