Why do birds build nests?
For several reasons, all of which should be quite obvious.
To have a place to lay eggs, and protect the young, and to provide
somewhere the mother can incubate and shelter her young ... and
other reasons, but there is another question hiding behind the "why".
If we asked, "why does a car have a steering wheel?" we would
know straight away that intelligent humans designed cars to be
steered. When it comes to birds, we assume that the birds used
their brain to think of a way to make a nest, for the reasons listed ....
but this is not the case.
Birds don't consider the future use of their nest. They just build it
because they have been encoded by their DNA to build it.
Who gave birds their DNA code to enable them to build nests?
The answer is God, but it goes further than that; God designed
the DNA for all creatures, so they would operate the way He
designed them to.
Except humans.
Humans are unique in that they
have the ability to be aware of
choice. They can also go against
their built-in wisdom.
Humans can make choices.
This white stork had no choice.
It was driven by 'instinct' to
build its nest.
But it was humans who
chose to build
the pole it rests on.
