integrity that they display — which of course doesn't have
a damn thing to do with what you may or may not have
between your legs! Physical strength is all fine and well but
it doesn't have any deeper consequence than simply the
physical thing that it is — especially in this day and age.
I had a good friend as a young man who truly believed that
Male Dominance was not only a fundamental truth, but
thought that all men were superior to all women, in every
way, and it was simply the way God intentionally made us.
I remember being blown away that such a seemingly nice
and kind person could have such a ridiculously destructive
life conviction. But I was young and had much to learn
about people. I soon found out that it seemed to come from
religious teachings.
Ah, I said to myself, think about it. Here you are, a male of
the species, proud and strong, and the book that describes
your beloved family's beloved religion clearly teaches that
you are a naturally God-deemed superior being by gender!
Who is going to turn down that kind of offer? Well, it turns
out that all men need to do just that, and the sooner the
better. There is just no reason for the conviction to exist.
Here's a bit of fun, if theorized, irony. Of course I cannot
say if this actually happened or not, but as I thought about
early human development and all its violence I couldn't
help but wonder where we got the empathy, kindness, and
compassion that we can readily see in our psyches today.
Not to say that early men didn't have at least some vestiges
of these attributes but it is fairly obvious that large amounts
of empathy, kindness, and compassion wasn't exactly going
to help a whole lot in the testosterone-ruled world of
fighting over territory, shelter, and food sources. Simply
put, hominids whose male population had too much of
