The truth is that Life is a Mystery. And if we can learn to
embrace that and work with it, we will be better human
beings and open the door to faster spiritual growth. I say
this for many reasons. First of all, spending large amounts
of time and energy trying to be sure of things that we
cannot possibly be sure of is simply a waste of time. Every
second wasted is a second that could have been used to
develop the positive things that make a real difference.
Gambling for money, whether it is in the stock market or in
Las Vegas is often just a way to try to amass personal gain
without the hard work of contributing to the community,
and is a study in futility that just reinforces the fallacy that
somehow knowing things you cannot possibly know
somehow raises your personal status in the world. All of
this just leads to a place where spiritual growth is
suppressed or cannot advance.
Blindly striving to be absolutely sure of things also
guarantees that there will be much less learning in your life
— and learning is required for spiritual growth. My father
once told me when I was still quite young that the three
most important words I would ever utter are I Don't Know
because every time you say those words, you are creating
an opportunity to learn something. Much of what we really
can accomplish on this world is learning and benefiting
from the learning experience. In fact, I believe that every
time someone learns something new, the whole human race
benefits.
Learning is synonymous with living. Anyone who is not
spending a reasonable amount of their time learning is
wasting precious time in their life. We are given this time
— this amazing, fleeting, and beautiful gift of life in a
human body to create positive energy that stems from Love
and the sharing of spiritual growth. It is a shame that so
