It is fortunate that there is, along with the destructive
aspects, some pretty good ideology in many organized
religions. There is some beauty there. We can be thankful
for that and it is perhaps another reason that we are still
hanging around. But when they disparage whole groups of
people and promote elitism and sexism, it is just so very
sad.
It is no wonder that many organized religions deny the
existence of evolution. When you believe in evolution you
have to believe in continuing education and self-discovery.
There is no room for that if they have a book that neatly
lays it all out for you. Why take the time to learn anything
when they have all the answers? Suspend all life learning
activity and vegetate for the rest of your life with no
spiritual growth. It is a waste of human life, but perhaps
better than a life of imparting pain to fellow human beings.
