many other ways that people, perhaps on a lesser scale, find
to shield themselves from doing the hard work of life.
People can lose themselves in any number of compulsive
dependencies that allow them to shift their concentration
from the real and significant. People lose themselves in
            overeating, over-sexualizing, gambling, chasing social
status, self-aggrandizing, and we all know how effective
alcohol and drugs are at making all the bad stuff
            "disappear".

How about the silly way we waste time worrying about and
commenting on all the unimportant and often negative
minutiae of other people's lives? Reality shows, gossip rags,
tell-all stories all are popular because it is a simple fact that
every minute you spend worrying about something that has
nothing to do with you is a minute you don't have to spend
doing the hard work of life worrying about yourself. It is
much easier to judge others and all this tempts you to
experience the negative pleasure of someone else's
misfortune. It's all a waste of your time and a lose-lose-lose
            situation.

Who are We in the World?
What Are We Going to Do in it?

As previously mentioned, we all, well, the overwhelming
majority of us anyway, have to find a way to make a living.
So what is it going to be? How do we find our way? How
do we find our calling? Do we all even have one? These are
good questions and the answers lie in the way we are
brought up, educated, and taught to see and think clearly —
            or not.

It all starts in childhood and the way we are treated by the
people who are supposed to love us the most, our parents.
