5.7 Types of Tender Document
5.7.1 Tender Documents Based on Bills of Quantities
This document is commonly used for large projects. Preparation of this document takes
a long time which involves quantifying each element in the building.
This document should provide a more equitable basis for evaluating the work
performed for the purpose of progress payment and variation order to the contractor's
work.
Tender document to be provided to the contractor is subject to the type of
contract offered. If this contract is based on Bill of Quantities the document below is
given to the tenderer:
Bills of Quantities
Form of tender
Specification
Drawings
5.7.2 Tender Documents Based on Drawings and Specification
This document is commonly used for projects that need to be completed immediately
where the Quantity Surveyor is unable to provide a Bills of Quantities.
Ideal for low and medium cost projects. The tenderer should only enter prices for
the entire work by lump sum.
