Employee Memo Regarding Health Care Reform

It comes as no surprise Health Care Reform continues to receive Health Care
intense political and economic attention. The Affordable Care Act Reform Memo
(ACA) has made sweeping changes to the US healthcare system.
Varying opinions of the law in our media, newspapers, and amongst
political parties has made it dificult to truly understand how Health
Care Reform will affect you and our company.

ACA requires all individuals to have health insurance. If you do not
have health insurance, you will pay a penalty. If you are currently
enrolled or planning to enroll in Americare’s health plan you will satisfy
this mandate and avoid paying any penalties. If you decline medical

coverage through Americare or a spouse’s plan, you will also have the
choice to elect healthcare coverage in the public insurance exchanges.
If you do not elect coverage with Americare, through a spouse’s plan
or through an exchange you will face penalties in 2016 for not having
the required coverage.

Aside from the individual mandate and development of insurance
exchanges, you will not likely notice other affects of the ACA. In
contrast, as a company, there are numerous policies under ACA
affecting how we offer healthcare coverage to our employees.
Currently, we are working with our beneit consultants to evaluate

existing markets and determine where Americare can achieve the
best partnerships in quality and affordability. We are committed
to complying with the law while also continuing to offer attractive
healthcare options at an affordable price to our employees.
