Godrevy and Polzeath (SUP and kayaking can be arranged pretty much anywhere, too) and inland,
the Biomes of the Eden Project mark the place that a derelict clay pit was turned into a world-
leading environmental organisation. Just don’t mention second homes.

Lesser-known spots
With its 400-mile-long coastline of sandy beaches, pretty harbours and oak-forested creeks it’s still
possible to escape the crowds in Cornwall. Swim or snorkel with seals and basking sharks from
secluded coves on the Penwith and Lizard peninsulas and spot wildflowers and wildlife on the
remote Isles of Scilly. Walk the rugged boulder-strewn moorland at Bodmin and the trails criss-
crossing the backdrop of the ruins of Tintagel Castle.
Did you know?
Cornwall has its own Stonehenge at Bodmin Moor, The Hurlers, a complex of three stone circles
dating to 1500 BC.
Where to stay
Hotel Tresanton is a cluster of cottages on a unique stretch of coastline in postcard pretty St
Mawes, a chic retreat for all seasons. Boutique bedrooms offer splendid sea views, and subtropical
gardens, a beach club and private yacht provide endless ways to relax. Spot artwork and sculptures
from Cornish artists including Barbara Hepworth. Read the full review here.
