The heart of this burnout machine is a built 400 small
block Chevy. But the way it’s raised up in the engine bay
like a Hot Wheels car leads some to ask if it’s a 572-cubic
inch monster. It might be smaller in displacement, but
by Richard’s words, “It’s pretty rowdy.” It features a
SCAT crank and rods, icon 13:1 pistons, Brodix heads,
625 Howard mechanical full roller cam, two Quick Fuel
carbs, MSD ignition, and a Turbo 350 trans with a full
manual valve body and a BTE 3800 converter. Out back
is a Ford 9-inch rear with 14-inch wide aluminum Wide
5 wheels, which hearken back to Richard’s circle track
days. Another nod to his racing days are the circle track
headers which were fl ipped over and installed to bring
the noise while roasting the hides.
