Fastening:
» The most commonly used type of fastening is
welding. Other methods include: Rivets, bolts,
adhesives, etc.
» Any welder will generally work for sheet
metal, but the welding of sheet metal (without
heat distortion) can be diffi cult if you are
inexperienced.
Tip: Use Vise Grips (Erwin), clecos or “side grip
clamps” (Mittler): Greatly helps with assembly &
test fi tting before welding or fastening.
Creativity & Patience:
» This cannot be bought; it has to be harnessed
on your own. Sometimes I use instructional
videos by Jamey Jordan or Ron Covell to
generate new/creative sheet metal ideas. There
are so many great metal “artists” out there.
