9 simple steps to building
anything using sheet metal:
Step 1: Plan the part that needs to be made and
consider the application & end result
Do you want this to be structural, cosmetic, shaped or
square, etc.?
For this example: These fenders need some
structure, but it’s not essential (the patches are
more for cosmetic purposes), so thin metal can be
used here; I used 22 gauge, but you will see (in the
advanced article) how I made it stronger.
Step 2: Make a template using the tagboard/cardboard
and your layout tools
Take your time on this step. Keep in mind that metal
