                         Hope on the Horizon

                  ith all the crazy going on with the job and Leroy’s drinking,

                  my girl Christine, knew I needed some professional help and
                  suggested I seek therapy.


               I was breaking, I could not stop crying. Christine recommended
          Dr. C., a psychiatrist, who was an older black sister from the island of

          Trinidad. Dr. C. is another one of God's guardian angels. She is a petite
          sister who was always dressed to kill; she reminded me of someone

          who had gone to the training school for the elite. She was very formal
          and helped me weekly to make sense of my life. She would always

          address me by my married name, Mrs. Thornburg, and the way she

          said Mrs. Thornburg made me truly realize that I was nothing like a
          Thornburg, which was a very formal family.


               I saw Dr. C. every week, just to have an outlet to cry. It was so
          hard to get up each morning and continue daily activities. My life was

          totally out of control. I would cry to Dr. C. weekly because I could not
          understand how I was the one who had ended up in therapy. I knew
