We had just won another contract when Jerome finally convinced
Tyrone and Giselle to promote Melissa as Project Director. Giselle
signed off on it, but I think she did it reluctantly, I don't think Giselle
trusted her instincts. I know Giselle did not like nor trust Melissa.
Melissa had been in both her and Jerome’s and office trying to get her
supervisor fired. She wanted her supervisor’s position.
That’s when Tyrone and Jerome began to bump heads. Tyrone
knew that Melissa’s boss was a stronger manager and she had been
with the company for five years. My desk was located outside of the
partners’ offices in the executive area and I could see how Melissa was
constantly feeding negative information about her supervisor to
Jerome.
I felt so bad for Giselle because she always wanted to see the good
in people to a fault. I thought she had no clue on how to deal with
these hoodlums. I was a white girl and I had more street sense and
fight than Giselle. I just watched and tried to help a sister where I
could.
I know one thing Jerome both had better tread water carefully
with Giselle because I knew Jerome could not get around her 51%
ownership.
So, when CGS won a new logistics contract, Tyrone agreed to
promote Melissa as the Project Director. There were also two slots
open for fulltime conference managers and an administrative assistant.
