That’s Crazy
I was shy and quiet when I first got there, I came highly
recommended by one of the Project Directors and I tried to provide
Giselle with the balance I thought she needed. It just seemed to me
that although the company was winning contract after contract that it
was constant drama there, I thought I could help Giselle rein some of
that is because my strong points were an eye for detail and
organization and I felt I could be an asset to the company and
somebody Giselle could depend on.
I felt Giselle and I was kindred spirits in a kind of away. She would
always tell me she was sure I was an undercover black girl. From
outward appearances, I may look like a nice, sweet little white girl, but
I been around black people all my life, I had grown up in Prince
Georges County Maryland, which is predominately African American.
I understood the black culture of sisters and was able to adapt and
many times go toe-to-toe with many of them. But that is all I knew, it
was more about where you grew up than what race you are, so that is
all I knew. And I married a black man and have two beautiful kids and
we are happy I might add.
Anyway, we were fully staffed and close to 30 employees, Jerome
was a trip! He was plotting and spending. His whole strategy was to
keep both Tyrone and Giselle distrusting each other. He knew from
the incident with Deborah, that Tyrone did not like nor trust Giselle.
I don’t think Giselle trusted either of them either, and she was just
staying long enough to build the company up for sale, as I have seen
before with many other companies in flux.
