                      The Real Math Talk that Should be Happening



               How do your students talk about math? How do they process their learning?

               Learning math takes patience, explanations, guidance, and yes.... TALKING! In this

               presentation, we will explore strategies for using math talk in the classroom by

               focusing on process standards. Participants will leave with discussion starters, ways
               to incorporate math talk within groups, and how to model math talk effectively. The

               strategies in this presentation are geared toward middle level educators, but can be

               modified for each level as needed.

                                           Be a Math-a-Magician



               I will discuss my teaching strategy that I’ve coined as “The Math House Approach.”

               This teaching strategy shows students how to add with regrouping in a fun and easy

               way using the dimensions of a house.
