Changing Your Assessment Mindset: A Workshop for
Evaluating Items in Grades 3-5
The SCDE Office of Assessment’s mathematics test developers will help participants
evaluate items consistent with the way they are evaluated for SC READY and EOCEP.
Participants will consider items for characteristics such as content alignment, use of
mathematical processes, rigor, universal design, and cognitive complexity

Rolling into Math - Primary Math Games Using Dice
Who knew regular dice could be used to teach so many areas of the primary math
curriculum. Come prepared to play with dice that work on the following concepts:
graphing, subitizing, odd/even, operational fluency strategies including commutative
and associative properties of +, make 10 make 20, make decades, place value to
100's, 1,000's, expanding numbers, problem solving and probability. Ideas for
differentiating the games, gameboards, student samples will be shared throughout.
