Do you want to give your students opportunities to develop language, process

ideas, synthesize concepts, and develop agency? Do you want to lower your

student’s anxiety in math and increase comfort and engagement? Do you want your

students to see themselves as the mathematicians they are? If you answered yes to
these questions, come join us to experience and plan for high yield mathematics

               routines in your classroom.

                    Friday 10:00-11:30 Session: N31 PreK - 8th Level Richland C Room

The Arc of Arithmetic to Algebra

The foundations of number sense and algebraic thinking developed in K–2 are

essential for upper elementary, middle school, and high school mathematics, yet

they are often misunderstood. We will explore the progression of learning spanning

from kindergarten to high school, in this highly interactive session, to experience

how math skills developed in the early years prepare students for Algebra 1. No
matter what grade you teach, you will find something to use with your students to

propel them forward, as well as how to incorporate manipulatives for in-person or e-

learning. A Curriculum Associates Professional Paper accompanies this presentation.
