- Geraldine Hughes -

my meeting with Mr. Pellicano that I found out that he was a
private investigator working for Michael Jackson.
Mr. Pellicano is a very tall, slender-built man, handsome
and very gracious. He was a respectable man and had high
regards for my mother's courage in persuading me to come
forth. His office was immaculate, stylishly designed and had
                            state-of-the-art computer equipment.
Convinced of Michael Jackson's innocence, Mr. Pellicano
worked around the clock, collecting evidence to be used at the
trial which was scheduled for March 21, 1994. It was Mr.
Pellicano that produced a tape recorded conversation between
Dr. Chandler and Mr. Schwartz in which Dr. Chandler admit-
ted he was getting ready to execute a master plan which was
going to destroy Michael Jackson if he didn't get what he
wanted. The media played the tape recorded conversation all
over the world. Even with this critical piece of evidence in Dr.
Chandler's own voice, the police did not take the extortion
charges seriously. Even in the face of this, Mr. Pellicano con-
tinued to compile evidence to aid in Michael Jackson's defense.
Mr. Pellicano also recorded a conversation with Mr.
Rothman, Dr. Chandler's attorney, in which he tried to get Mr.
Rothman to admit that Dr. Chandler only wanted money. Mr.
Rothman, most likely being suspicious, didn't take Mr.
Pellicano's bait. Mr. Pellicano and Mr. Rothman did, however,
talk about the $350,000 counteroffer for one movie deal. Dr.
Chandler refused the counteroffer because it wasn't enough
for him to shut down his dental practice and work full-time on
writing screenplays. It is my understanding that Dr. Chandler
asked Michael Jackson for a film project of five million dollars
per year for four years which totaled twenty million dollars,
or he would go public with the child molestations allegations.
In the conversation between Mr. Pellicano and Mr.
Rothman, he was successful in getting Mr. Rothman to openly
discuss and negotiate the amount of money Dr. Chandler
wanted to keep quiet about the allegations. The dictionary's
definition of extortion is: "to obtain from a person by force or
undue or illegal power." Also, "the act or practice of extorting
