Pellicano, likewise, began to step up his plans for a counter
attack. Mr. Pellicano left no stone unturned in his pursuit of
the truth. He vigorously pursued and interrogated witnesses
for the defense attorneys. He would conduct an in-depth in-
vestigation of the witness prior to meeting with that individual.
By the time he interviewed a witness he already had inside
information regarding the extent of their involvement with the
case.
My first face-to-face meeting with Mr. Pellicano was dur-
ing an investigation meeting that was originally scheduled by
my mother. She was the main reason I became involved in the
investigation from the very beginning. She was privy to ev-

the release of the book. After all the smoke cleared and the
pain subsided from losing a precious mother, her words served
as a constant reminder to me, "don't forget to get the book
out."
My mother contacted Mr. Pellicano and advised him to
talk to me concerning the case because she felt I could help
their investigation. At first, when my mother told me of the
scheduled meeting, I thought I was meeting with the investi-
gators from the District Attorney's office who were investigat-
ing the extortion allegations. I didn't know that private inves-
tigators were separate from the D.A.'s office. It wasn't until
