Eagle Scott Makes a Donation to Broward
Health Coral Springs Hospital Teen Room
Seventeen-year-old Ben Cone recently presented the Pediatric Unit’s Teen Room
at Broward Health Coral Springs with a game center he made himself as part of
his contribution for becoming an Eagle Scout. The idea started when Ben had a
friend in the hospital and saw the need for a shelving unit for gaming and enter-
tainment. Two years in the making and Ben has a completed unit along with rais-
ing $400 towards a new television screen, and donated his Play Station 3 along
with 30 video games he collected.

Good Samaritan Medical Center
Participates in Latch and Love Event
Showing support for World Breastfeeding Awareness Week, Good
Samaritan Medical Center hosted mothers and their children at the
hospital to show the benefits of breastfeeding. It was an opportunity
to meet others and share stories and also offer support. At the Special
Deliveries Unit at Good Samaritan Medical Center, the goal is to pro-
vide women with comforting, personalized care, before, during and
after the birth of a child. Our highly skilled doctors, nurses and tech-
nicians focus on the mother’s needs and the needs of her newborn.
During their hospital stay, new moms are offered advice and support
from our specially trained staff as well as a visit from our lactation
consultant.
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center
Celebrates 100th EMU Patient Case
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center recently treated its 100th Epilepsy
Monitoring Unit patient. Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is the only hospital
in Palm Beach County to have a dedicated EMU. Using advanced technology and
the expertise of highly trained specialists, the new Epilepsy Program at Palm
Beach Gardens Medical Center is designed to help patients suffering from seizures
and epilepsy regain control of their lives.
The EMU is equipped with Long-Term Video Monitoring (LTVM), a specialized
form of an EEG in which the patient is continuously monitored on video while
brainwave activity is recorded. The video captured with this testing can be used to
detect epileptic activity not detectable in routine EEGs. It can be critical for the
diagnosis of epilepsy by correlating the time of the physical manifestation of the
seizure with abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
