2. Kinds of Sentences
A group of words that contains a verb and makes complete sense is called a
sentence. A sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop (.), or a
question mark (?) or an exclamation mark (!).
Kinds of Sentences
Sentences are of four kinds :
1. Declarative 2. Interrogative 3. Imperative 4. Exclamatory
Read the below sentences.
The Sun is a large star.
My mother makes yummy idles.
The above sentences declare something or state a fact. Such sentences are
called declarative sentences. Declarative sentences are also called assertive
sentences. They end with a full stop (.).
Read the below sentences.
What is your name?
Where have you been?
The above sentences ask questions. Such are called interrogative sentences.
Interrogative sentences end with question mark(?).
