4. The Noun

Everything that we can see around us is a noun .

The name of a person, animal, place or thing is called a ‘noun.’

Examples : (a) A doctor

(b) A playground

(c) A football

(d) A cow

Kinds of Noun

There are five kinds of noun :

1. Proper Noun : A proper noun is the special name of a particular person, animal,

place or thing. Proper noun always begins with a capital letter.

Example : Hema went tothe Paris to see the Eiffel Tower .

In the above sentence, the words Hema Paris and Eiffel Tower are the names of
a particular girl, city and building respectively.
