The title still makes sense for the home page of the site, and it includes the company name and
both of the main keyphrases and nothing else other than an ampersand, now THAT is what density is
all about!
Meta Description
The Meta Description tag is not as important as it once was, but should still be included as it does
contribute to keyword density somewhat, and is still useful for some search engine spiders and
directories. It is intended to serve as a short description of your website, and some search engines
will actually use this as the description in your result. Do not use this as a place to stuff 100
different keywords, that will do nothing but hurt your results. Instead, describe the site in natural
sentences using your keywords as much as possible. The following example shows the MAXIMUM
keyword usage you want to use in your meta description:
Example Site Before:
none - you'd be surprised how many websites do not have a meta description!
Example Site After:
<meta name="Description" content="SupaGreen Exotic Landscaping & Exotic Plants specializes in
exotic landscaping designs using lush exotic plants." />
This description, while formed like a true sentence, does not reflect real conversion, and illustrates
the MOST you would want to use keywords in your meta description. Any more than this is asking for
trouble.
Meta Keywords
The Meta Keywords tag is a place to add keywords relevant to your site. Do not stuff this tag with as
many keywords as possible, all that does is drops the density % for each term, which negatively
effects your listings. Simply add your new list of keywords here, and nothing else for the best
results.
Example Site Before:
none - again, many sites do not even have a meta keywords tag at all.
Example Site After:
