Example Site Simple Text Menu:
SupaGreen Home | Exotic Plants | Exotic
Landscaping
This is easy to do and adds keyword rich text linked to other pages of your site, adding relevance
throughout your whole internet property.
Internal Links
Internal links, are links on your site that go to other pages on your site. They are very important for
a couple reasons:
1. It's how the search engine spiders move from page to page through your site, allowing them
to find and index all of your content.
2. It's an easy way to add links to pages on your site using keyword rich anchor text. If you have
a link on your own website with the anchor text “baseball” the search engines figure there is
a pretty good chance it links to a page about baseball, which adds keyword relevancy to that
page.
Remember to always keep the end user in mind when making these tweaks, I've seen menus with way
too many keywords in them, and it's really not very nice looking or user friendly, and just ends up
hurting the site. The simple text menu from the last section is a perfect example of good internal
linking; it's easy to understand for the user, and incorporates a few of the main keywords.
Once you have more than 15 pages on your website, it's time to make a sitemap. A sitemap serves a
couple of purposes:
1. It's an easy way for users to see a listing of all the pages on the site.
2. It's a great way to show the search engines all the pages on the site, so they can index them
all.
3. It's a great chance to add keyword-rich anchor text on internal links, adding lots of keyword
relevancy all over the site.
