Page 18 - A MEASURE OF FAITH
P. 18
Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to?
It is like a mustard seed which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and
become a tree, and the birds of the air perched in its branches”
This parable gives the reader several insights about how this kingdom operates:-
1. One way of looking at this parable is to observe how the gospel that was
spread all over the world began in part by a small group of disciples.
2. We can look and see the growth of the church which at the beginning had
only a small number of followers who took the gospel to all the corners of
the globe and many come to believe.
3. We can also view this parable in the context of Christian growth and
maturity from the days of small beginnings when one received the seed of
the word of God at salvation to that person putting on Christ-likeness.
None of us at the beginning of our walk with Christ were perfect human beings.
Not when we got saved. Not even in the present moment. We all need to grow
and become mature and this comes as a result of sanctification a process that
continues until the return of Christ.
Phil. 1:6
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it to its
completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
13. Faith That Moves Mountains.
Luke 17:5-6
The apostles said to the lord, “Increase our faith!” He replied, “If you have faith as
small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and
planted in the sea’ and it will obey”
Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence
of things not seen. The best method a follower of Jesus Christ can model this
type of faith to his fellow brethren is by using the example of Abraham.
So Abram went forth as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with
him. Now Abram was seventy-five old when he departed from Haran.
