Page 14 - A MEASURE OF FAITH
P. 14
In a world that pits science and faith against each other we who study the
lessons wrought by both practices understand that the two can and do coexist
even as faith and science put God through scrutiny and investigation.
There is tons of empirical historical and scientific data that confirms to the bible
student the authenticity of biblical narratives. In the bible we see from a historical
stand point that Christ’s resurrection points to a time in the future when he will
return to judge this world. (Acts 17:31)
Because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness
through a man whom He had appointed, having furnished proof to all men by
raising him from the dead.
3. Faith fills in the gaps.
It is good to know that the faith we have in God and our beliefs about him are
both reasonable and logical in what they assume. Yet in spite of all the biblical
assurances man still gets dogged with questions he has no answers for.
No one has the capacity of forecasting the future. We still have no answers as to
why the good lord allows things to happen to us. And all of us share a common
struggle one of comprehending the immutable attributes of God.
Until Christ returns or we are called home believers continue living a lifestyle that
demonstrates faith both in the things we understand and in what we cannot
comprehend.
Second Corinthians chapter five and verse seven tells us that we live by faith not
by sight.
th
The 11 chapter of the book of Hebrews tells us that the men of old Abraham
and the Old Testament heroes of faith obeyed the lord though none of them
claimed to have attained perfection at all.
Those folks lived by faith and trust in God and in his promises even when God
was not necessarily telling them what the next phase of their journey would lead.
4. Faith will produce good works.
5. Faith is strengthened by trials.
