Page 9 - A MEASURE OF FAITH
P. 9
Jesus of Nazareth was a prophet full of power in word and deed before God and
the people. But the chief priests handed him a death sentence then crucified him.
(Luke 24:19-21)
We did hope that this man would be the redeemer of the nation.
In vv 25 of the same chapter Jesus went on to rebuke his two disciples for their
foolishness and slowness of heart in believing what the prophets had spoken!
8. What is Faith?
The epistle to the Hebrews chapter 11 the first verse tells us that faith is being
In a different
sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
version of the bible this verse tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped
for the evidence of things not seen.
Breaking down this verse word by word we arrive at the following meanings:-
Faith is the assurance.
The confidence.
The confirmation.
The reality.
The essence.
The supporting ground of things hoped for.
From the same scripture we derive the following:-
Faith is the conviction of things not seen.
Faith convinces us of what we do not see.
Faith is the evidence the proof of things not seen.
9. Where does faith come from?
When it comes to the subject matter of faith we must agree that none of us are
born with the natural ability to believe therefore we don’t have an inborn
capacity to understand or grasp the concept of faith.
