Page 12 - A MEASURE OF FAITH
P. 12
We are only able to obtain such excellent things from God as we continue
hearing the gospel of Christ. Only then can such faith be stirred in us as the
message continuously impacts how we live life on this earth.
11. Seven Facts about Faith.
When it comes to the subject matter of faith this is something all of humanity
has in common. Every one of us puts his/her faith in something or someone and
in every passing of the day we all get to practice what we believe in.
In the Greek language the words used by the New Testament writers when
talking about faith are: - belief, trust and confidence. For us to have the
possibility of expressing faith outwardly there has to be the object of desire
something or someone we believe in and put our trust and confidence in.
When comes to the believer the only being strong enough to save and deliver is
Christ Jesus so he alone becomes the object of the believer’s faith. From this view
point we see that Jesus Christ is the only accurate visual when it comes to
salvation.
Now the gospel writes introduce Christ as the one in whom the body of saints
have a relationship with a living person in whom is the ability of forgiveness of
sins.
We relate to this person in the same way men put their trust in others but we as
believers know that eternal life is found in no other that Jesus Christ. From this
point we get to look at seven key points abut faith as taught in the scriptures.
1. Faith is a gift from God.
Man left to depend on his own individual effort cannot work hard enough or
become god enough to qualify for salvation. The only one with the legal means
and the power to affect salvation is God Himself.
God is the only one who has been working hard to affect this salvation and from
the dawn of creation and time until now He has been in the business of
providing forgiveness.
And though salvation comes through having faith in the Son of God justification
comes only by one means through faith even then this faith is only given to us
by God. (Rom. 5:1)
