Page 7 - A MEASURE OF FAITH
P. 7

In both covenants the people of God were asked to respond to him as YHWH
God the Father. The New Testament can simply be defined as the covenant

between God and his people through his Son Jesus.

                   5. The New Testament Canon.

In the New Testament the common language of the people was Greek and the
person through whom God chose to intervene in the affairs of man was his Son
               Jesus Christ.

God is continuously intervening in the affairs of his people now through the
agency of the Holy Spirit. In the world we live in the church is Christ’s extension
of his body on the earth.

It is the primary vehicle through which the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit
cooperate with man or men to complete the plan of redemption on behalf of
               humanity.

The bridge between the Old Testament writings and the New Testament
scriptures is the Septuagint. In this translation the writes of the scriptures use

theological vocabulary to explain to the readers and the world in general what
God is doing in his church what he is doing in the world what he had
accomplished in the past and what he is going to do in the future.

                   6. The meaning of faith in the New Testament.

In the New Testament the topic of faith can be viewed from two angles. From
one angle we can interpret the subject of faith in the New Testament from the
way it reflects its continuity with the Old Testament.

From the other side we can view it a product of its unique historical and cultural
setting. From the portion we looked at before we see Hebrew term from the old
covenant writings repeating itself in the new covenant and which gets

consistently expressed in the pages of the following pages.

The term we found in the pages of the book of Deuteronomy “mn” emphasises

the need for the Christian to develop a firm conviction in the ways of the lord
and in his various actions in the world.
