P. 2
The daughters of Israel had become extremely fruitful and in so doing they
misplaced their hope in the one true God choosing instead to trust in their
wealth and in the strength of her army, “Who will attack me?”
For the believers the ones called out to follow the Way our true source of
security as Christians comes from having and maintaining a steady relationship
with God.
God requires that all who are called by his name those called according to his
purpose that they maintain a holy fear of the lord and show a reverence for his
word in obedience to his will.
The prophet Isaiah writes in his book that we who look towards the lord as the
source of our security should fear the lord and obey the voice of his servant. Let

rely on his God. (Isa. 50:10)
As we continue pushing on with work that Christ left for us to accomplish here
on earth it is God’s will that we develop a dependence on his word and learn to
trust in his character.
This trust in the character and integrity of God is equated to having a working
knowledge of his will and his ways as opposed to a person relying on his own
understanding.
Proverbs 3:5-6 King Solomon tells us to trust in the lord with all our hearts and
lean not on our own wisdom in all our ways acknowledge him and he will direct
our paths.

rescue and shielded them from their enemies on all sides.
The lastborn of the family Jotham gives his brothers the sons of Jerub-baal and
the citizens of Shechum and Bath Millo a challenge in the form of a parable, “The
thorn bush said to the trees, ‘If you really want to anoint me king over you, come
