and take refuge in my shade; but if not, then let fire come out of the thorn bush
and consume the cedars of Lebanon!’” (Judg. 9:15)
There is a passage in the book of Psalms 7:1-2 where David cries out to the lord
for protection as his enemies were in hot pursuit of him. Here we see him
making a similar assumption we find in the life of Jotham.
“O lord my God, I take refuge in you; save me and deliver me from all who
pursue me, or I they will rear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to
rescue me”
For those who follow in the footsteps of our forefathers there are similarities in
the way an individual looks towards the lord for refuge and strength and in the
way men look to others for comfort in men and princes. (Ps. 118:8-9)

In the 17 Psalm and the 7 verse David gives us the following perspective in
the love of God that the lord shows his love his great love to those who seek
him. He stretches out his right hand and shields them from their foes those who
seek refuge in him.
There should be no doubt in the mind of those who look at us who believe in
the lord that as we continue seeking security and comfort in God who is our
refuge and strength should be the very same ones that benefit from our
salvation.
And that these blessings are as a result of our continuous application of the
knowledge of God and in the dependence of his protection when the need for
help arises.
This is the mark that distinguishes us Christians from the ungodly.

These three root words best describe a personal habit of persistence or the
longing for hope or being patient when waiting for something. Isaiah the prophet
writes to the nation of Israel with an exhortation...
Put your hope in the lord and your strength will be renewed like that of the
eagle that soars high on its wings. And when they totally commit themselves to
following the lord’s ways they shall run the race of life but won’t become weary
they will patiently walk the pathway of life and will not grow faint. (Isa. 40:31)
