Page 16 - A MEASURE OF FAITH
P. 16

Will we obey and trust in God when we are facing situations that call for us to
               make sacrifices?

In the Old Testament we see Abraham develop his character by relying
completely in God’s ability to provide though what he had been longing for was
taking time to come to pass.

All he had to go on was the promise God had made and the character of God
that makes him a promise keeper. In the end God was glorified and Abraham’s

faith in the lord was strengthened.

                   7. Faith protects us from the enemy’s arrows.

In the New Testament writings we see the character of Satan being displayed in
its full essence. Paul tells us that Lucifer still accuses us like he did in the Garden
               of Eden.

Christ calls him the father of lies and he is working in our hearts and in our
minds to fester thoughts of shame guilt and doubt. Each and every day our
winds are bombarded with negative thoughts and if we are not careful we will

entertain whispers in our ears that tell us God does not exist nor is he capable of
solving or bringing a remedy to our situation.

Lucifer’s main method of warfare is infiltrating our thought life and constantly he

reminds us of our past failures and mistakes every sin we’ve ever committed
everything we’ve done wrong that God has already dealt with.

But we are reminded in the book of Ephesians chapter 6 that: Faith in God is our
. There is an allusion to the Roman legion
               strong defence against Satan’s attacks
in this book and their means of defence against their enemies.

In ancient Rome the soldier would put on full armour from his head all the way
to his feet and in the front he would carry a shield that protected him from
               arrows thrown in combat.

Paul in the book of Ephesians likes faith to this piece of body armour and when
we take us the shield of faith and totally rely on the power of God during combat
with the devil we are protected from all schemes pointed against us.

Faith prevents the flaming arrows that Satan throws our way and stops them
from penetrating our defences. Faith in God puts to an end all the schemes plans
