10-3-1 Graduate Student Career Path Workshop
Session Organizer and Moderator: Amy Marconnet, Purdue University
The organizing committee of InterPACK is delighted to announce that there will be a “Graduate
Student Career Path Workshop” held at the 2017 InterPACK conference at the Hilton San
Francisco Financial District hotel in San Francisco, California. The workshop is open to all
registered students and will provide an opportunity for students to explore potential career
paths in both academia and industry. InterPACK has a long history of participation from technical
leaders in industry, academia, and national labs, and this workshop will enable personal
interaction between students and these leaders, as well as network with fellow students. The
workshop will kick off with a panel on career paths featuring distinguished engineers who have
chosen careers at different types of institutions including small and large universities and
companies. The panel will be followed by small group discussions in which the students can
directly interact with both industry and faculty mentors. Panelists and mentors will be selected
to balance perspectives from industry, academia, and national labs, as well as to ensure a
diverse representation of researchers including underrepresented minorities and women.
Graduate students awarded travel grants are particularly urged to participate. The workshop will
be free. Participating in the “Graduate Student Career path Workshop” is a great opportunity for
the students to learn more about what their future may hold. We look forward to
your participation!
