Some works, such as editorials, reports, brochures, Web pages, and
encyclopedia articles, may have no author listed. Each parenthetical

reference should include the first few words of the title (unless it is a,

an, or the) and the year. Shortened book titles are italicized; article

titles are put in quotation marks. If the work’s author is listed as

“Anonymous,” treat “Anonymous” as you would the name of a single

               author.

                    Examples

The Student Search Service, operated by the College Board,
sells names and basic information to colleges looking to recruit

                    students (“Colleges,” 2006).

Protein powders are not just for bodybuilders; they also help in

weight-loss programs by helping dieters shed fat, increase muscle,
and reduce cravings (“Take it off,” 2008).

               Personal Communication.

In APA style, personal communications such as interviews or emails

are cited in the text only, not in the list of references, and are called

“personal communications” regardless of the method used.

                    Example

                       P. Borck said that the library is one of the best places to get help

with a research paper (personal communication, February 9,
