DELEGATE ASSEMBLY BUSINESS SESSION
Chaired by: Dale Jenkins, Outgoing GII Board Chair
GII Board Chair Dale Jenkins convened the
Business Session of Delegate Assembly on June
25, highlighting the 1.5 million people served by
the network last year and $6 billion generated
in revenue across Goodwill’s business lines.
Recognizing the commitment of the GII Board of
Directors, Jenkins acknowledged the unspoken
truth of the three-day conference and its value
to the network.
“Every time we get this group together, there
is so much wisdom that comes together.
That’s why we’re here at Delegate Assembly
— to learn from one another so we’re better
prepared tomorrow with the knowledge to
better serve and innovate in the communities
we serve.”
Representing the Network’s Interests,
Upholding Membership Standards
Jenkins reported on the work of the GII Board of
Directors over the past year, including oversight
of GII budget and resources; coordination with
the Conference of Executives on strategic
priorities; advancement of a public policy agenda
and Goodwill on the Hill event; education on
the Goodwill governing documents; election of
emeritus board members Larry DeJarnett, Bill
Kacal, and Lorna G. Utley; and onboarding of
new GII President and CEO Steve Preston.
Under the leadership of Membership Standards
Committee Chair Bob Rosinsky, the committee
has continued its review of compliance with
member standards, with specific attention to
data analytics and the collection of regular
data. Jenkins reported that the committee is
also studying a process to provide proactive
support to members before they enter a
formal standards concern review process. This
approach will more quickly identify Goodwill
organizations under financial strain and
encourage them to work with members of the
GII team as early as possible.
“We’d much rather engage in this manner before a
situation becomes too difficult and often too late
to deal with,” Jenkins said.
Jenkins reported that the Membership Standards
Committee also sought input on financial triggers
that would help identify members in financial
distress through the work of the Financial
Ratios Task Force. The GII board approved the
Membership Standards Committee piloting these
financial triggers to offer assistance to members on
a voluntary basis, requesting that the committee
monitor the results and report back to the GII
board next year.
Approving GII Board Members
Board Development Committee Chair Karla Grazier
brought before the Delegate Assembly a slate of
three private-sector nominees to be voted on
to join the GII Board of Directors. The Delegate
Assembly voted to approve Kristin Goran, Jackson
Jeyanayagan and Bob Ravener to serve terms on
the GII board beginning in 2019 at the conclusion of
the current Delegate Assembly, and ending in 2022.
The Delegate Assembly also approved Ned Helms
and Anne Myong to serve second terms.
Grazier, who is president and CEO of Goodwill of
Colorado, also reported that the Conference of
Executives elected Goodwill CEOs Kent Kramer,
Debbie Passerini and Vicki Holschuh to vacancies
on the COE Executive Council. Richmond Vincent
was elected last year as a mid-term replacement.
“We look forward to Kent, Debbie and Vicki joining
the GII Board of Directors and are happy to have
Richmond serve on the Board,” Grazier said.
