No Better You
We've unconsciously created a habit of looking around us and meas-
ure our worth by the standards of others. We dream of having that
perfect car, that perfect spouse, those perfect children, all at the
expense of being who we truly are. The problem with this approach
to life is that it's misdirected from the start. And even if we do get to
achieve the goals we set in this way, we will never be genuinely hap-
py.
How can we expect positive, long-lasting and satisfying results by not
being our own self, by not being natural?
When you realize that all of your expectations are just that, expecta-
tions, you won't be able to take them seriously anymore. By not tak-
ing them seriously, a whole spectre of new possibilities will open up
to you. On one hand, things that weren't in your view, start to appear
out of the blue. On the other hand, things that seemed fulfilling and
worthwhile, turn into totems of wasted time. Only a fool would think
that it's possible to incorporate life's immensity into something as
tight as a thought's density.
Oh, and don't worry about others, sooner or later, anyone who
chooses to conduct their life in this way will find out the costs.
This doesn't imply that we shouldn't have role models or people we
look up to. Of course, there are many things and people in this world
that can inspire us a great deal. Nonetheless, no matter the case, we
should always put ourselves first. Take that advice, listen to that life
