HB 2820- Appropriations; Veterans; Kitchens; meals; training
Appropriates $300,000 from the State General Fund to ADVS to award a grant to a nonprofit organization
that provides housing, nutrition and other services to military veterans and their families in this state to:
•Purchase a factory-built kitchen.
•Provide health meals of the appropriate portion size to military veterans; and
•Develop a culinary training and placement program for military veterans.

Allows a person to transfer the person’s big game permit or tag to a qualified organization for use by a
Gold Star child. If the Gold Star child is under 14 years of age, the child must satisfactorily complete the
Arizona hunter education course or another comparable hunter education course that is approved by the
Director of Game and Fish.

•Support the survivors of military sexual assault through funding and gender specific health transition
training;

•Provide continued funding for modernization of Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of
Defense health records.

SB 1044 Veterans’ Services, benefits counselors, appropriations (Amended)
Would in addition to any other appropriations made, the sum of $183,900 is appropriated from the state
general fund in fiscal years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 to the department of veterans' services to hire two
additional benefits counselors. The additional benefits counselors shall be located in Apache, Coconino
or Navajo county.
