Ex-officios are Council or staff members that are automatically members of the committee.
Council ex-officios are the link between the committee and Council. Staff ex-officios are
the link between the committees and the executive director and, when required, with
Council.
Ex-officios should be copied on all committee e-mail correspondence.
Ex-officios do not need to attend all committee meetings.
Ex-officios ensure that Committee requests and recommendations are communicated on a
timely basis to Council for decision-making and that Council decisions are communicated
to the committee.
Liaises with Chairs of assigned IPIC committees to ensure that submissions/deliverables are
received by the IPIC office on a timely basis, allowing for time for Council and/or staff to
review well in advance of the deadlines for submission/publication.
Reviews and approves, with the Chair and Vice-Chair, the list of applicants for the
committee, as well as additions or removals to the committee during the year. Ensures that
Vice-Chairs will be trained by Chairs and communicates with Chairs to ensure the Vice-
Chairs will be ready to become Chairs.
