ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงค�ำนวณต�ำแหน่งสถำนที่ วันและเวลำที่ปรำกฏได้อย่ำงแม่นย�ำ ในครั้งนั้น

he King Mongkut Memorial
Science Park at Waghor
This Memorial Science Park was established in honor of King Rama IV or King
Mongkut, who was recognised as “Father of Thai Science” at Waghor,
Tambon Khlong Wan and Muang District in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
It marked the place where the King observed the total solar eclipse he had forecast
and announced globally 2 years before it actually happened.
This eclipse took place at 5.36 and 20 seconds on August 18, 1868. The eclipse
lasted 6 minutes and 45 seconds. Later, the Thai Government declared this date
“Thailand Science Day”. Inside the Park, there is an observatory with three buildings
connected: Phanthiwathit, Phanpinitchantra and Darathassanee. There are exhibitions of
knowledge on astrology and space. Also, there is a museum of sea animals at Waghor in a
big glass tank and a tunnel to the fish pond where fish are raised.
These places are centres for learning and research on marine science, nature
and the environment as well as conservation tourism or ecotourism.
