Different modals are used to indicate varying
degrees of willingness (high, mid and low)
The degree of willingness shows the speakers’
determination and commitment on something
in which it will be reflected on their actions
Degree of Willingness Examples
High (strong willingness and high- I will complete my homework by

Medium (partially determined) I might be able to finish this home-
work this week.
Low ( existence of reasons for not I want to complete my homework
being able to do something) but there is too many of them.
