Mid-Autumn and Spring Festival celebrations. A
highlight was the Chinese New Year trip to London’s
Chinatown. French students enjoyed a trip to see
Les Misérables in November, while Spanish students
visited Madrid in February. Over 40 students tackled
linguistic challenges in our inaugural House Linguistics
Competition. Additionally, 29 students entered the
UK Linguistics Olympiad, winning multiple medals
including our first ever gold. Congratulations to Year
9 Ana who achieved gold foundation level, Sophie
who achieved a bronze foundation level and Upper
Sixth George and Alex who achieved bronze medals
Advanced Level. Two Millfield Prep pupils achieved
bronze medals in the breakthrough level too.
Maths
01 It has been another great year for participation in
maths competitions, with over 200 students taking
part in ten different Olympiads and competitions.
We also hosted a junior team competition for local
primary schools for the first time, which was a
resounding success. There have been too many great
results to feature them all but the highlights include:
a gold in the Senior Maths Challenge aimed at Sixth
Form students for Year 10 Woody, his was also the
3rd best result in the school. A distinction for Lower
Sixth Angela in the Mathematical Olympiad for
girls, along with Merits for Rebecca, Jinghan, Emilia,
Maisie, Goksu, Obie and Olivia. Merits in the British
Mathematical Olympiad for Freddie, Jeffery, Gilad,
Alex and Nidal and a Distinction in the intermediate
Olympiad for Jose, alongside Merits for Christopher
and Woody. Seb and Tapi represented Millfield
admirably in the UKMT Team Maths Challenge. We
