                           Project structure





               3.1   Effective project management structure

               Establishing an effective project management structure is crucial for its success.


               Conventional functional or divisional structures can lack clarity as to how authority is
               divided between line managers and project managers. If the projects form a major
               part of the business of the organisation, such as in a construction company, this may
               necessitate an organisation structure such as a matrix, where lines of authority are
               clearer.
