It’s a beautiful summer’s morning and you’re just discussing whether you might have a barbecue
tonight when Den Rice sends you an email:

It’s short notice, I know, but I’ve got an urgent request for you. I need your help preparing for the
next Board meeting. As you know we’ll be discussing setting up paywalls to arrest the revenue
decline.

Firstly, I think Guy is really keen, so I want to make sure we have our eyes open if we go down this
route. What are the risks of setting up paywalls and how could we mitigate them.

Secondly, I was reading the attached article last night. From a business perspective, this sounds
amazing. I’m concerned about how this links to our CSR policy, especially if we do put paywalls in
place. Please could you outline any issues we may have?

We’ve got a Board meeting this afternoon, so if you could get it to me before lunch please.
